With a classic holiday design and delicious chocolates, these luxury advent calendars ($39.95) are available on godiva.com starting Sept. 1.
This year’s calendar includes classic, favorite pieces from Godiva’s Gold Ballotin Boxes, along with seasonal pieces like dark caramel embrace, milk snowman, white ganache bliss and dark mint medallion.
Cocktails by night
Podmore, Honolulu’s much-anticipated cocktail destination from Senia team Anthony Rush and Katherine Nomura, opens Aug. 21 at 202 Merchant St. and is now accepting reservations to its “cocktail by night” offering. The menu of elevated snacks — including caviar churros and foie gras parfait with Yorkshire pudding — pair with a thoughtful cocktail program that ranges from a classic martini to a reimagined gin and tonic served tableside.
Podmore will operate from 4 p.m. to midnight Wednesdays-Sundays. Guests must be 21 years or older to attend. Brunch service is expected to start in September.

A local-style breakfast
On July 16, Pagoda Floating Restaurant introduced its new breakfast a la carte menu featuring Ohana Cattle Company beef from local family ranchers in Hawaii, Waianae’s Mountain View Dairy Pork and more. Breakfast is available daily from 7 to 11 a.m. at the restaurant, located at 1525 Rycroft St.
The eatery decided to offer a breakfast a la carte menu due to the pandemic and related restrictions. Pagoda also wanted to provide its guests with more sustainable and fresh menu options showcasing local eggs and produce.
So far, popular breakfast items include Punaluu sweet bread French toast with caramelized bananas, grass-fed Ohana Cattle Company beef loco moco served with two eggs and onion gravy, guava macadamia nut toasted croissant, and haupia pancakes with haupia cream served with house-made pineapple papaya jam. Savory options range from kalo and kalua pork hash and Chinatown lup cheung fried rice to black pepper and island honey-charred pork belly and island-style mahimahi.
What’s up, Homee
Homee’s Treats from Big Island Candies used to be exclusively available at the company’s Hilo store. However, now you can get these cookies — oatmeal macnut cranberry, crispy chocolate chip and arare chocolate chip — at the Ala Moana Center location as well.
