VIAGGIO HOSTS ITALIAN WINE DINNER
For tomorrow night only, Viaggio Honolulu is hosting a six-course wine pairing dinner, serving its Italian cuisine with selections from Byington Vineyard & Winery of California.
The dinner, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., is limited to 60 guests. The event will include winemaker Andrew Brenkwitz and sommelier Vince Robledo. Executive Chef Rodney Uyehara will feature such delicacies as braised grilled octopus salad paired with 2016 Alexander Valley Blanc de Blanc. Later, a rib-eye steak will be served with a Bordeaux heritage 2014 Alexander Valley, Sofia.

CHEFS GET PROMOTED
Marriott International – Waikiki Complex has announced the promotion of Blake Kajiwara at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and Lenny Ushidate at The Royal Hawaiian. Both properties are owned by Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts.
In his new position as director of restaurant operations at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, Kajiwara oversees the hotel’s Pikake Terrace, Splash Bar, banquets and in-room dining. Kajiwara most recently was executive sous chef at Sheraton Waikiki, primarily overseeing breakfast service at Kai Market.
Ushidate has been named The Royal Hawaiian’s executive sous chef. He worked at the iconic hotel’s Azure Restaurant since 2008.
