Chief’s Luau has moved across the island, from Sea Life Park to Wet’n’Wild Hawaii, where it has a permanent new 50,000-square-foot home at the water park. The grand opening will be Tuesday.
The three-hour luau is not only about the feast, but also includes a visit to the water park’s Polynesian Village, with activities that include lau hala weaving and spear throwing.
The luau was founded by Sielu Avea, a fireknife champion who serves as director of entertainment, producer and emcee, performing himself in a fireknife show during dinner.
The luau starts at 5:30 p.m. daily except Tuesdays and Saturdays (the grand opening is a special event). Cost starts at $87, $78 for youths and $64 for children ages 5-12. Kamaaina and military discounts available; call 674-9283, ext. 107. Book online at wetnwildhawaii.com/chief-s-luau.
The water park plans a Kamaaina Day, Jan. 21. All residents who attend the luau will receive a gift to all residents.
