Hungry shoppers: If you’ve missed having food options on the Diamond Head end of Ala Moana Center, your problems end Friday, when the Lanai @ Ala Moana Center opens in the old Shirokiya space.
The dining hall, with seating for 450 on the mall level, will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and grab-and- go options. Hours: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
Five restaurants open Friday, with six others slated for later this year.
The opening restaurants:
>> Ahi + Vegetable: Fresh, raw seafood in sushi, sashimi, rolls, poke and bentos, plus teri chicken and beef, grilled fish and more.
>> Brug: The bakery and cafe from Hokkaido, which already has a shop on the street level, bakes up artisan treats daily, plus soups, sandwiches, cold-brew coffee, jelly drinks and more.
>> HiTEA Cafe: Find stir-frys and fresh vegetable items, fresh fruit juices, boba smoothies and boba teas.
>> Mahaloha Burger: 100 percent, free-range Big Island beef, free of antibiotics and hormones, in such items as a loco moco burger, and the popular avocado and Banzai BBQ burgers.
>> Sobaya: A Japanese noodle house serving soba, udon and ramen, both hot and cold.
