The simplicity of this recipe, among the offerings in “Cooking Hawaiian Style Two” by Lanai Tabura and Frank Abraham, is matched only by how unbelievably ono it is. In fact, Abraham says it’s one of the best dishes he’s ever eaten.
The recipe comes from Ernest “Papa” Tottori, founder of Taro Brand.
PAPA TOTTORI’S CROCKPOT PORK LUAU
- 3 pounds pork butt
- 1 to 2 tablespoons Hawaiian salt
- 1 pound taro leaves
- 1/2 cup water
Place pork in slow cooker with salt, topped with taro leaves. Add water. Turn slow cooker on low and cook 8 to 12 hours. Serves 6.
