Make a potluck dish and take a drive to Waimanalo on Nov. 5, then pay a visit to Green Rows Farm at the foot of the picturesque slopes of the Koolaus, where a group of young farmers is employing regenerative practices in nurturing its crops.
Slow Food O‘ahu will visit from 9 a.m. to noon, for a tour with farm manager Sean Anderson. The day includes a “green” potluck brunch, meaning visitors should bring their own plates, cups, napkins and utensils.
Cost is $20, $15 for Slow Food members. The farm is at 41-756 Mahailua St. To register, visit eventbrite.com and enter “Slow Food Oahu” in the search field.
Slow Food O‘ahu is one of more than 200 chapters of Slow Food USA, dedicated to promoting food that is local, nourishing, sustains the environment, and honors culture and tradition. Visit slowfoodoahu.org and thegreenrows.com.
