Warm welcome: Hokule‘a comes home

Hōkūleʻa, ka waʻa kaʻapuni honua

Synopsis: On its maiden voyage to Tahiti in 1976, Höküleæa was captained by Käwika Kapahulehua. He was a Hawaiian language speakers who in his later years taught language students at the University of Hawaii. Höküleæa has just returned from a voyage around the world and will anchor off Ala Moana Park on Saturday. Read more

Bus, bikes, shuttles suggested for those greeting Hokule‘a

Officials estimate as many as 50,000 people will descend on Magic Island on Saturday to welcome the voyaging canoe Hokule‘a back to Oahu, and with on-site parking limited they recommend TheBus, shuttles and bicycles as alternative transportation. Read more
