So who stole his mailbox? Him?
Many of us forget that messing around with a lame mail box is a huge federal offense. The law is old and messed up – we think the post office is a private organization due to the 1971 reorganization. This is a myth – its still a US government entity with Barry in charge at the lead.
The Federal Grad Jury Indictment is not about the mailbox itself but it’s about corruption as a result of destruction of evidence, tainted evidence, lies in court and by investigators under the chief in regards to the mailbox theft. This is a serious felony so if found guilty, he’ll be sharing the same federal prison showers as some of the inmates he’s incarcerated in the past! LOL
LA retired county sheriff Baca also under federal indictment for obstruction of justice, while his under-sheriff has been tried and is currently serving time. The position boost their ego and they go bananas. The adage “power corrupts” certainly is demonstrated in this situation, plus the desire for a conspicuous life-style by the other half not named in the indictment. Unfortunately the the disposal of her Aunt’s estate and how funds were disposed created a family feud. Sad!
Come on now, do we walk in the footsteps of Barry, Al, Jesse, Fredericka, etc. and convict this man before the facts are out in the public eye to judge him? The man is innocent until proven guilty
I do agree. The Chief has a PhD, he’s an extremely intelligent man. I really don’t think he’s be dumb enough to steal his own mailbox to frame anyone. His wife, on the other hand, is another story. I think she engineered this whole fiasco.

PhD can often be a joke – Larry Price has a PhD LOL. Maybe the Chief’s PhD is a real one.

Larry Price’s PhD is not a joke. The man is a seriously intelligent fella. He has difficulty speaking, but if you read any of his written material, he is clearly very bright. I have met a couple of PhD’s who, while obviously smart, had absolutely no common sense or empathic sense. They were awful people to know and worse, to work with!
It took him five years to earn a master’s in criminal justice administration from Chaminade University. Perhaps Chaminade’s educational program was lacking in real life work, common sense.
How else to explain how all this education failed as it did not provide him with common sense. Book smart but not street smart, how the real world works.
He would do well to retire and enjoy the rest of his life with his wife. However if he is prosecuted and sent to jail, his pension must be pulled. State is not in the business of subsidizing criminal behavior.
There are plenty of PhDs that are nut cases like Ted Kaczynski for example, the brilliant math professor whom turned unabomber on his own faculty! Holding a PhD doesn’t ensure you’re mentally sane, just means you can stay in school for many years and pass tests even if you try many times over and over! LOL
hahahaha, you don’t have to get specific with PHd’s names. Cause just about all College’s have Liberals/Democrats nut cases teaching young adults. Safe Spaces? ah huh.
No disrespect to the Chief – but in a position such as this, even the PERCEPTION of wrongdoing is enough to cripple not only his office – but the entire force.

I have always supported law enforcement…specifically HPD (via their Explorer program). It seems sad that there seems to be quite a few of the rank who will adhere to the belief that they need to protect their own regardless of what is uncovered. Then there are those may support what is just but will not speak out…per aforementioned. Sadly, there is a lack of the later and this is may affect the public’s trust of HPD. Sad..
Agreed, the Chief had the option a long time ago to resign and fight this case off-stage while the HPD got a new Chief and moved on. However, up until the letter came out, the resignation was the Chief’s option. Him not taking it, well, tells me that he was going to stay until he was forced out.
With the letter coming out, the expiry of him taking that option and being gracious about it is coming up fast. Unfortunately, it sounds like he will be like a lot of strongmen – decide to take baby steps (like ROPA) and hope that during the exile he will be so beloved that the force will want him back. Unfortunately, as stated here, the perception of his rule will doom those chances. I am sure that come the Commission’s meeting, the ROPA’d Chief will be faced with resignation or firing.
And what a way to go.
The Chief’s decision to stay tells me he feels he cannot be proven guilty or that he is actually innocent. Kealoha is no common cop. To become chief you would have to have been an exceptional standout among all officers with knowledge and performance above and beyond.
Not always, you can thank affirmative action for many in command these days. Just look at all the failed leaders that were convicted of crimes that were hand picked by Barry himself!
All this over a mailbox? How sad.
No…all this over control, greed and MONEY.
I question the character of all involved. But, the Chief should have, voluntarily taken a 6 month Leave of Absence, using his Vacation or Sick days. In this position, integrity aint something its everything!

The Chief deserves his day in court to defend himself. Then he should resign. 🙂
In the best of all possible worlds, he should step down from the position because he’s under a shadow, and the Federal attention means that there is likely more to the case than just speculation. This does HPD no good and only undermines their reputation and credibility. He should be thinking about the Department, not just about himself. His improper interjection at the Puana trial that ended in a mistrial already shows that he’s personally involved in this scandal and behaved unprofessionally. That should be enough for him to step down.
Seems like his wife is the root of all the evil in this situation. Just sad that stuff like this can ruin a person after reaching the pinnacle of their profession.
Takes two to tango
Innocent till proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. That is the law. Don’t rely on a newspaper tabloid for your facts. If there is enough evidence to prosecute he will be brought to trial. At some point if he realizes that he will be found guilty he will retire which he is obviously not doing at this time. Cops know the law. Silva was forced to take a plea deal because there was incriminating evidence. Testifying that someone “ordered” him to do it or “implied” for him to do it as a favor may be considered hearsay if denied by the accused. Will any other officer surrender and testify? I think not. Let’s wait and see.
In the end they will all flip on the Kealoha’s. You think they’re going to risk 10 years in federal prison for them? Not a chance. There’s absolutely no incentive for retired cop Silva to make up such allegations against the Kealoha’s, what would that gain him. He doesn’t want to go to jail either.I hope they all go down and take Caldwell and Kaneshiro with them. These 2 could have ended this fiasco long ago, they are just as guilty as the Kealoha’s.

These issues have gone on way too long. It’s a distraction for the force and expensive for the taxpayers of HNL. Retire or whatever, but move on.
