Unfortunately the TMT is just too much technology for so many Nei residents to understand, they are afraid of it.
Mo bettah move to a more progressive country where people welcome technology.
People going to grumble no matter what.
Only if they totally remove any telescope sights that are not used.
Too many “sacred” site detractors in Hawaii. Wonder why the detractors have not vented their energies against the high-rise developers who have for over a hundred years desecrated the aina and contributed to the homelessness.
As long as no taxpayer money is paying for it, put in the telescope. We have plenty of telescopes but what real useful results have they produced? What is the ROI?
I will be happy when discarded refrigerators, worn out tires, and other trash disappears from the Sacred Aina. Then we can discuss telescopes.
