It’s time for your keiki with culinary inclinations to prepare for Keiki in the Kitchen, part of the annual Hawaii Food & Wine Festival.
Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes” and “Dessert Games” star Duff Goldman will be the headlining chef at the Keiki in the Kitchen Family Sunday, Nov. 5 at Bishop Museum. The first 1,000 kids there can sign up to decorate unfrosted cupcakes with his guidance and encouragement.
Grown-ups will get to meet with Goldman too, but the decorating bit is just for kids, according to festival publicist Tannya Joaquin.

Goldman was traveling and had a busy filming schedule last week and could not be reached.
In three cooking sessions, kids will to learn how to make a “Chunky Monkey” tart using chocolate, peanut butter and banana, as well as a savory turkey turnover. The latter recipe could make a post-Thanksgiving family activity and snack, organizers said. Classes are $30; registration is underway.
That evening, Goldman will have a completely different audience and will unveil a showpiece cake for the Halekulani Culinary Masters Gala, a $1,000-per-ticket event that will combine culinary excellence with high fashion presented by Saks Fifth Avenue.
The cake’s design is being finalized and will remain a secret until the big reveal, but it will be about 3 feet tall, according to special event manager Michelle Fujii.
