Need a last-minute idea for dad’s special day? These dining events for Sunday and the days leading up to Father’s Day go beyond a restaurant meal:
>> “The Man’s Cave Cuts of Meat”: A cooking class at BLT Steak Waikiki with chef Fred DeAngelo, from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, covering how to cut different types of meat and prepare side dishes and marinades.

>> Father’s Day Beer Fest: An annual event in the Banyan Courtyard of the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki, 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, includes 20 craft beers and an appetizer buffet.

>> Honolulu BBQ and Blues Festival, plus cooking classes: A two-part event at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort culminates 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday with the festival, an evening of live music, with barbecue on the side.
Performers: John Akapo, Willie K, the Trailer Park Romeos with Corey Funai and Lightning Larry Dupio.
Tickets are $35, which includes one food item.
On Thursday and Friday the Hilton is hosting classes with Myron Mixon, who has won more than 200 championships on the competitive barbecue circuit and is frequently introduced as “the winningest man in barbecue.” Admission is $250, which includes dinner and admission to the BBQ fest.
