The sixth edition of the United Flight Attendants’ Fashion Show will take viewers to “Ports of Call” from Paris to New York, starting at the Sheraton Waikiki Hawaii Ballroom. Featured will be garments from several local designers, with a nostalgic segment showing United Airlines flight attendant uniforms dating back 60 years in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the hiring of United’s first Pacific flight stewards. From left, Marlene Tom models a 1965 “cheerleader” uniform, Sally Bushonvilleod in a 1951 dark blue suit, Deana Dunbar in a 1941 outfit and Kim Fanley in a 1939 uniform.

The Naha Stone, which weighs about 5,000 pounds, in Hilo is one of the Big Island’s top historic attractions. The legend of the sacred stone states that the one who can overturn the stone has the mana (power) to rule the land. King Kamehameha I moved the stone and unified the islands in 1810 under his rule.

Leprosy patients and their supporters sing “Hawai‘i Aloha” to conclude lei-draping ceremonies at the Capitol’s Father Damien statue. The event was held to rally support for the patients’ attempt to remain at the old Hale Mohalu facility in Pearl City.
