Hokule‘a returns after journey

A welcome home ceremony for the Hokule'a was held at the Marine Education Center on Thursday. The voyaging canoe returned after a six-month and 2,800-mile journey covering the west coast from Alaska to Southern California with 43 port stops.

The voyaging canoe returned from Long Beach, California on board a Matson cargo ship, after a six month and 2,800 miles journey covering the west coast from Alaska to Southern California with 43 port stops The journey was part of the Moanauiakea Voyage with the Hokule'a and its crew returning to Hawaii to because of the August 8, 2023 fires which destroyed Lahaina town in Maui.
