Penny Wakida and her son Nick embrace at the Family Assistance Center at Kahului Community Center where people can provide information on missing loved ones, as well as providing DNA mouth swabs, to help identify any victims. Penny Wakida, 79, has not heard from her husband Clyde, 74, who stayed behind with their Lahaina home in effort to save it from the fire. Officials later contacted her to say that they had found human remains on the property.

Ernest Buen, 83, is looking for his younger brother, Maurice "Shadow" Buen, 80, who lived in a Lahaina assisted living facility. Buen was at the Family Assistance Center at Kahului Community Center to provide information about his brother and submit a DNA mouth swab in the hopes to find him.
