A man sustained head injuries in an alleged assault at Kaneohe Community Park early today.

Honolulu police and Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to a call of an assault at the park at 45-529 Keaahala Road at about 1:10 a.m.

Paramedics treated an unresponsive man in his late 50s who suffered “extensive head injuries,” EMS said.

There was conflicting information on the man’s condition. Honolulu police said he was taken in serious condition to a hospital. EMS said he was taken in critical condition.

A woman who sustained injuries to her face declined treatment.

Honolulu police have opened a second-degree assault and third-degree assault investigation.

There are no arrests at this time.
