The Blood Bank Hawaii campaign “Give Blood. End Hunger.” has been extended through January where a meal is donated to the Hawaii Foodbank for each blood donation given. As of Thursday morning there were only about 70 bags according to BBH president Kim-Anh Nguyen.
“During the holidays we see our inventories fall as folks are busy shopping and creating wonderful experiences for their families. So our donors sometimes forget to come in or schedule that appointment. We need 150-200 donors a day and over the next 8 days we have some days with less than 100 appointments. So it’s really important that people come out to support our hospitals,” said Fred McFadden, Director of Donor Services.
