The United States Attorney’s office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation held a news conference about charges in a Maui bribery case on Thursday. The former director of the Maui County Department of Environmental Management was accused by federal prosecutors with taking $2 million in cash, travel and casino chips to steer $19 million in contracts to a Honolulu wastewater executive’s companies.
