Honolulu Mayor Eileen Anderson and other city officials traveled to the North Shore before dawn to halt further demolition of the historic Haleiwa Theatre. The 52-year-old movie house was being destroyed by a wrecking crew when a stop-work order was obtained by city Corporation Counsel Gary Slovin.

Wong; District 7 Vice Commander John Evans of Australia; Okinawa unit Commander Sandy Ellis; and Hawaii finance officer Thomas Twamley.
