A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with the shooting death of an Ewa Beach woman last week.

Honolulu police said today that Josiah Garcia has been charged with second degree murder and firearms charges. HPD said Garcia’s bail has been set at $1 million.

Police arrested Garcia on Friday at a home in the West Loch Estates area of Ewa Beach after they opened a second-degree murder investigation following the death of a 46-year-old woman.

HPD said it received a call just before 5 p.m. on Friday from the suspect, who claimed that he had killed a family member. Responding police officers found the deceased victim inside a residence and reported that she sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

No additional information was provided by the police.
