Hawaii County says audible siren in the Hilo area was a false alarm
Hawaii County said this evening’s audible emergency siren in the Hilo area is a false alarm.
An initial investigation indicated at least one siren in central Hilo began sounding shortly after 8:30 p.m., possibly as a result of an electrical fault at the siren site.
Hawaii State Emergency Management confirmed it was not an intentional activation and shut it off within about five minutes
