Kilauea’s long-running eruption is taking another break

USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory scientists continue to monitor the new eruption at Kilauea's Halema‘uma‘u crater on the evening of Sept. 30. Kilauea has experienced seven major pauses in lava production and a bunch of smaller ones since Nov. 8, with the temporary stoppages gaining in frequency over the last month. The latest pause started Sunday and continued into Tuesday.
