Good Samaritans help rescue unresponsive man in ocean near China Walls
Surfers and bystanders on shore helped save the life of a 20-year-old Oahu man in waters off Portlock today.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said the man was found unresponsive in the ocean near the surf break China Walls just after 11 a.m.
EMS said surfers brought the man out of the water and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation once they discovered he was not breathing and had no pulse.
Thanks to the efforts of the good Samaritans, the man resumed breathing and regained consciousness at the scene.
First responders from the Honolulu Fire Department and EMS also arrived to provide care, with EMS continuing to administer advanced life support before transporting the man to a nearby emergency room in serious condition.
