Honolulu Fire Department firefighters doused a house fire in Nanakuli today that displaced five people and sent a 46-year-old female to the hospital in serious condition.
HFD said it received a 911 call at 8:24 a.m. today for a building fire at 87-1621 Kanahele Road in Nanakuli and responded with eight units and approximately 24 personnel.
When firefighters arrived at 8:31 a.m., they found a single-family home with visible smoke and flames. The blaze was reported under control within five minutes and was fully extinguished by 9:02 a.m.
While all of the home’s occupants were able to exit the home safely, the woman and a 53-year-old male resident both suffered burn injuries. According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, the woman suffered burns to her face and arms and was later transported to a nearby hospital, while the man was burned on his hands and refused further treatment at the scene.
