Driver dies in one-vehicle crash on Farrington Highway in Waianae
A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Farrington Highway in Waianae this morning, police said.
The deadly crash occurred in proximity to the Waianae Wastewater Treatment Plant at about 7:10 a.m.
Police said a black 2010 Mini Cooper was traveling west on the highway when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the roadway and hit a curb, said Lt. James Slayter of the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division.
The vehicle then crashed into a metal guardrail.
Emergency Medical Services responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her exact age was not immediately known.
Positive identification is pending.

Speed, alcohol or drugs were not involved. Police said distracted driving may have been a factor.
This is the 23rd traffic-related fatality on Oahu compared to 17 at the same time last year.
