Honolulu police open first-degree attempted murder investigation involving road rage in Kaneohe

Honolulu police have opened a first-degree attempted murder investigation involving road rage in Kaneohe today.

Police said witnesses reported a hazardous driver heading northbound toward Kaneohe at about 10 a.m., followed by a possible road rage involving a Mercedes sedan and a Toyota truck.

Police found the Toyota truck at the Hawaiian Memorial Park cemetery. The occupants — two men both age 23 — sustained minor injuries by shattered window glass from gunshots.

Police located the suspect’s vehicle on the eastbound lanes of the H-1 freeway near the Halawa off-ramp.

Officers arrested the male driver on suspicion of attempted murder and a drug-related offense.

Police also arrested a male and a female who were in the suspect’s vehicle on suspicion of drug offenses.

Honolulu police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Kaneohe today.

Police said shots were fired at a vehicle in the area of Kamehameha Highway before the H-3 freeway off-ramp at about 10 a.m.

Shayne Enright, spokeswoman of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, said Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the area of the Hawaiian Memorial Park cemetery where they treated two men, both 23, who sustained minor injuries from broken glass from a shattered vehicle window in connection with the shooting.

Both men declined to be transported to a hospital.

There are no arrests at this time.
