Man, 19, arrested after allegedly kicking homeless man in head

A 52-year-old homeless man sustained critical injuries after a 19-year-old man kicked him in the head in an unprovoked attack in Kalihi Tuesday, police said.

The alleged assault occurred on North School Street at about 5:40 p.m.

Police said the suspect approached the victim, who was laying down on the sidewalk, and kicked him. The victim was taken in critical condition to a hospital.

Police said the victim and suspect are not known to one another.

Police later located the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree assault.
