There was a spirited cricket match at Kapiolani Park between Worcestershire County Cricket Club of England and the Honolulu Cricket Club. The English batsmen scored 180 runs while losing only five wickets. Then, because they are a sporting group, they let the local boys come to bat. Eleven-year-old Ethel Kawawaki has been named winner of the Lincoln essay contest at Lincoln Elementary School. The contest, sponsored by the Lincoln Dinner Committee of Oahu Republicans, is held annually to honor the memory of the Civil War president. Ethel’s prize was a $25 defense bond, which she received at an assembly.
