Honolulu firefighters this morning were battling a fire in an industrial area of Sand Island that generated smoke that could be seen for miles.

Honolulu firefighters responded to a large tire fire this morning at a towing company in Sand Island.
More than 35 firefighters with 10 units responded to Tow Jams at 1006 Mikole St. just after 9:15 a.m. today, according to Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Jeffrey Roache.
The fire sent up a big plume of large smoke that could be seen for miles.
Firefighters brought the fire under control at 9:40 a.m. and extinguished it 20 minutes later.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
