VIDEO: State Rep. Della Au Belatti joins the COVID-19 Care Conversation

State Rep. Della Au Belatti joined the COVID-19 Care Conversation today to take viewer questions about Hawaii’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rep. Belatti spoke in detail about how state lawmakers are working to facilitate increased testing, make sure that federal funding via the CARES Act is reaching Hawaii residents, and how they are working on plans to jump start the economy when the stay-at-home restrictions are lifted.

She says the state is also looking at how help redeploy workers who have been laid-off or furloughed, into new jobs. As an example, she cited the many laid-off hospitality workers, who may be able to work in supporting roles in health care.

Belatti also spoke about how she, like many Hawaii parents, is navigating her new role as a home-school teacher, and how her husband’s job as a nurse on the front lines of fighting the coronavirus informs her work as a lawmaker.
