Man critically injured in moped crash on Waipahu bike path
A 55-year-old man sustained critical injuries in a moped accident in Waipahu.
Police said the man was traveling east on a paved bike path on Ala Ike Street behind Leeward Community College at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control. He fell off the moped and struck his head on the pavement.
Emergency Medical Services and treated him for injuries and took him in critical condition to an area hospital.
Police said speed may be a factor. The moped rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

EMS responded to the area of Kamehameha Highway and Pupukea Road at about 9:53 p.m.

Paramedics found a 58-year-old man unresponsive on the side of the road. They treated him and took him in serious condition to a hospital.
