The Hawaii National Guard said Oahu residents might notice an increase in military aircraft during a large-scale Sentry Aloha fighter exercise running Wednesday through Sept. 4.

Sentry Aloha is an ongoing series of exercises hosted by the Air Guard’s 154th Wing involving multiple types of aircraft and services.

Sentry Aloha exercises have been conducted two to four times per year for several decades, officials said. This iteration will involve over 700 personnel and more than 25 aircraft from more than 10 other states and territories.

Visiting flying units will include fighters from Oregon and Oklahoma, refueling tanker support from Utah and Nebraska, radar aircraft from the Royal Australian Air Force and F-22 Raptors flown jointly by the 199th Fighter Squadron and active duty’s 19th Fighter Squadron.
