1. Fold the scrap 5” x 5”
cardstock in half and draw a
half heart on the 4 fold. Cut out
a large heart.

2. Trace a smaller heart on the
inside of the large heart and
cut out. These are your two
patterns for the apple.

3. Fold the red cardstock in half
and trace the outside of larger
heart. Cut the heart out.

4. With the red heart still
folded in half, make two 1/4”
snips in the center fold, about
1/2” apart.

5. Trace the smaller heart
pattern onto the white
cardstock and cut out.

6. Take the black marker and
draw on “seeds” as shown in the
sample. You can also write a
message if you want.

7. Slide the pencil through the
slits on the red heart.

8. Use the double stick tape to
stick the smaller heart with the
seeds over the red heart.

9. Cut two elongated ovals for
leaves form the green
cardstock.

10. Punch a hole on one end of
each leaf. Use the marker to write
a message on the leaves if you
want. String the leaves onto the twine or ribbon.

11. Tie the leaves to the pencil
at the top of the apple. For a finishing touch, make
a worm! Glue the green pom
pom to one end of the chenille
stem. Glue on the two eyes.
Wrap the chenille stem around
pencil.
