Comic book lovers can add to their collections at Free Comic Book Day, Saturday at one of dozens of participating Hawaii State Public Library System libraries statewide. Show your valid library card for a free comic book, while supplies last.
“Comic Book Day is a great way to encourage our young readers to keep reading and to visit our libraries,” said Mallory Fujitani, a Hawaii State Public Library System spokeswoman.
Among the available titles (selections may vary at each location): “Lumberjanes: The Shape of Friendship,” “Pokemon: I Choose You! & Pokemon Adventures,” “Star Wars Adventures: Druid Hunters” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Casualty of War.”
As a bonus, costumed characters from the Pacific Outpost of the 501st Imperial Legion, Rebel Legion Hawaii, and Costumers Guild of Hawaii will be at selected libraries for photo ops — and appropriately enough on May the Fourth Be With You/Star Wars Day! — so don’t forget your cameras.
Free Comic Book Day is sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Gecko Books & Comics and Collector Maniacs.
