The daily use of technology is the focus of hands-on activities and how-to demonstrations — find cheap flights for your travels with Google, go on a guided photo walk, get a massage to relieve your “text neck,” win fun techie door prizes and more — at the Community Tech Fair April 6 at Kapiolani Community College.
“Our aim is to reach out to a wide range of people, from our keiki to our kupuna, interested in playing with everyday technology,” said event coordinator and KCC librarian Joy Oehlers.
Keiki can learn to make an LED circuit greeting card by connecting positive and negative terminals with a battery, compose digital music or test out the latest gaming devices. Eventgoers of all ages are welcome to bring their smartphones, tablets and laptops to explore the possibilities.
“Often we have these tech devices and we only use them for one thing or use them in a basic way,” Oehlers said. “We probably don’t know that our devices can do so much more just by adding an app or using a hidden feature.”
