More than 100 local employers and employer resource organizations with immediate openings will be at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s spring Hawaii Career Expo on March 27 to interview or answer questions from job seekers.
The event, which is also sponsored by ALTRES Staffing and Monster, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall. Job seekers are encouraged to attend in business attire and bring their resumes. Hundreds of jobs will be available.
Among those companies in attendance will be Naval Facilities Engineering Command Hawaii, Navy Region Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific Health, Kamehameha Schools, Aqua-Aston Hospitality, Hertz Car Rental and the Honolulu Police Department.
U.S. VETS, the nation’s largest nonprofit provider of services to homeless and at-risk veterans, is returning to the expo and will provide free admission for U.S. veterans who provide their veteran ID information. U.S. VETS will provide free services throughout the day for veterans who need assistance with job placement and job training through personal and career development training. Admission also is free to service members in uniform and to the first 1,000 people to pre-register online at HawaiiCareerExpo.com.
Otherwise, entry is $3 for general admission and $1 for seniors, military and students.
“Last year, thousands of people came through our Career Expos to connect with hundreds of recruiters and HR managers throughout the state,” said Denise Ching, classified advertising manager at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. “Hundreds of people left the event with a life-changing career move or hire. Over 100 people were hired just at the Navy booths alone.”
The expo comes at a time when the unemployment rate in the state has been rising and was 2.7 percent in January, matching its highest level since February 2017.
