Babysitter accused of child sex assault died of gunshot wound to head
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said Thursday that a 43-year-old Honolulu man suspected of child sexual assault died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Jesse Puaa’s body was found Aug. 31 in Laie.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the manner of death — whether it is a homicide or suicide.
Puaa had allegedly sexually assaulted someone’s children while babysitting them on Aug. 18. The children later reported the incident to their father.
An Aug. 22 CrimeStoppers bulletin publicized the incident.
The Medical Examiner’s Office had withheld the cause of death and Puaa’s identification because next of kin had not identified the body earlier.
