Spend the day getting to know all about rays — stingrays, manta rays, spotted eagle rays and more — at Sea Life Park’s aptly titled last Keiki Sunday of the year this weekend.

“‘A Day with the Rays’ is a great way to get a better understanding of these incredible cousins to sharks that are so often misunderstood,” said Christina Leos, marketing director at Sea Life Park.

There will be a scavenger hunt for a hidden golden ray, a visit from storybook characters sharing the roles rays have played in island culture and specially scheduled ray training demonstrations and feedings.

“Our Keiki Sunday events are designed to encourage an appreciation of the marine environment and conservation in children, and offer a wonderful opportunity to learn more about amazing animals and ecosystems,” Leos said.

Other highlights at the event include music performances, an arts-and-crafts activity in which children can create a stingray puppet, gameplay that reveals rays’ unique characteristics, mermaid meet-and-greets, face painting and glitter tattoos. The first 100 keiki receive a free plush toy.

“It’s also the perfect time to check out a new add-on experience we’ll be offering at the park called Reef Exploration, where you can wade through graceful rays and juvenile sharks,” Leos said.
