Cause of Kalihi fire undetermined
Honolulu Fire Department investigators were unable to determine the cause of a residential fire in Kalihi on June 23 due to extensive damage to the area where the fire started.
The case has been closed with the cause of the fire classified as “undetermined,” HFD announced on Wednesday. It can be reopened if new information becomes available.
The fire caused an estimated $193,800 to the abandoned, one-story home on Wilcox Street.
Ten HFD units staffed with 39 personnel were dispatched to battle the blaze.
HFD officials said they were told that squatters had previously occupied the structure but had left prior to the fire.
No injuries were reported and no other structures were damaged.
