The crimefighter Deadpool supposedly has a thing for chimichangas — both the taste and the sound of the word.
So in honor of Friday’s opening of “Deadpool 2,” the latest Marvel superhero movie, Consolidated Theatre’s Olino in Kapolei is launching a selection of chimichangas.
You got your X-Force Cheesy Pepperoni (the pizza version with tomato sauce, pepperoni, cheddar cheese and sour cream), Dogpool (hot dog, refried beans, cheddar cheese and pickled jalapenos) and Wade’s Fluffy Marshmallow (dessert version, named for Deadpool’s alter ego, Wade). All are wrapped in flour tortillas and fried; $6 each.
The creations are by the theater chain’s food and beverage manager, Adrienne Ishizu, who is especially fond of the X-Force version. “To be honest it tastes like a deep-fried Hot Pocket and it’s so good.”
Get a souvenir with your meal by ordering the “Deadpool” burger combo — teriyaki burger, garlic fries and a drink in a 44-ounce “Deadpool” cup, $16; or Red’s Cherry Bomb Float (cherry Coke with vanilla ice cream and chocolate ganache) in a promotional pint glass. Only the float will be sold at Consolidated theaters besides Kapolei.
The specials run through May 23, although the promotional cups and glasses might run out sooner.
Coming soon: For the movie “Solo,” opening May 25, Ishizu has created a ham sandwich plate called the Ham Solo.
