Thousands of Native Hawaiians gathered at Iolani Palace Wednesday to remember the 125th anniversary of the overthrow of Hawaii’s last monarch, Queen Lili‘uokalani. Some in attendance wept as the Hawaiian flag was raised at 10:45 a.m. — the same time it was taken down during the overthrow and replaced with the American flag. Light rain fell on the gathering at the palace, where thousands of others amassed after marching through Honolulu streets.
