Woman, 36, critically hurt after being struck running across Nimitz
Emergency Medical Services transported a pedestrian to a hospital after she was struck by a sport utility vehicle in the Kalihi area.
At about 1 p.m. Monday, police said a 37-year-old woman ran across Nimitz Highway when she was struck by a 2017 Jeep traveling westbound near the H-1 viaduct.
EMS responded and transported the pedestrian to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition. Police said the Jeep driver, an 18-year-old woman, did not sustain any injuries.
There are no crosswalks where the crash occurred.
Police closed two westbound lanes of the highway to investigate. Lanes were reopened sometime before 4:30 p.m.
It’s unknown at this time whether speed, alcohol or drugs were involved.
