Jackson Browne, a Southern California-based singer-songwriter who made his mark in the classic-rock era and continues to write literate, moving and politically aware songs, will appear in Honolulu with his band on April 6.

Tickets for the Waikiki Shell show, $69.50, $99.50 and $129.50, go on sale for Hawaii residents at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, with up to eight tickets available for purchase. They will be available online only, at www.ticketmaster.com. The kamaaina pre-sale runs through Dec. 15 at 10 p.m.

Tickets go on sale to all buyers at 10 a.m. Dec. 16, online, by phone at 800-745-3000 and in person at the Blaisdell Box Office or Ticketmaster outlets.

Browne first reached a wide swath of listeners with his self-titled 1972 debut album, which included “Doctor My Eyes,” a single that reached No. 11 on the Billboard Singles chart. That year, Browne co-wrote “Take It Easy” with Glenn Frey of the Eagles; the song became a hit for The Eagles with Frey as vocalist, and was featured by Browne on his second album.

His highest ranking single was 1982’s “Somebody’s Baby,” part of the “Fast times at Ridgemont High” soundtrack — it went to No. 7 on the singles chart.

In 2005, Browne appeared on stage with Jack Johnson at the Kokua Festival, singing “Take it Easy” and “Island Style”; the songs are included included on 2012 album “Best of Kokua Festival.”

Browne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2007. His most recent studio album is 2014’s “Standing In The Breach.”
