The fishing boat Pacific Paradise remains stranded in waters off Waikiki, a week after getting stuck on the reef and two days after catching fire.
A Coast Guard spokeswoman said the fire, which flared up again Sunday, has been extinguished and that the Coast Guard and salvors will reassess the situation today in the hope of resuming salvage operations Wednesday.
The 79-foot vessel ran aground 330 yards off Kaimana Beach on Oct. 10.
Salvage company Cates Marine Service has made repeated attempts to get the vessel off the reef but has been hampered by poor weather and shifting tides.
The boat caught fire Saturday while the salvors were preparing to tow it off the reef. The fire flared up again the next day, forcing the salvage company to postpone an attempt to tow the vessel at high tide.
The Coast Guard continues to enforce a 500-yard safety zone in the water around the vessel.
