Ewa Beach elementary school student escapes from would-be kidnapper
CrimeStoppers and Honolulu police are asking the public’s help in identifying a man who attempted to kidnap a 10-year-old boy in Ewa Beach.
At about 7 a.m. on Sept. 19, police and the Department of Education said the boy was walking to Keoneula Elementary School on Kaipalaoa Street when the suspect in a black four-door pickup truck, possibly a Toyota, attempted to coax him to get inside.
The suspect then grabbed the child and attempted to pull him into the truck when the student managed to get away and reported the incident to his parents and school staff.
The suspect is described as 30 to 40 years old, 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall with a medium build. He has black hair and brown eyes. Police said he also has multiple tattoos: an octopus and shark on his neck, Hawaiian design on each side of his face and tattoos covering both forearms.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
