Shark warning signs were posted at Waimea Bay on the North Shore.

Warning signs have been posted at Waimea Bay on the North Shore today after multiple sharks were spotted about five yards from shore.

Lifeguards advise the public to stay out of the water.

As of 11:45 a.m., the sharks were no longer in the area, said city Emergency Services Department spokeswoman Shayne Enright. Warning signs will remain posted until further notice.

Enright said nearshore waters have been murky due to recent heavy rainfall.

Warning signs were posted at Waimea Bay Thursday after an aggressive 6- to 8-foot shark was spotted feeding about 30 yards offshore.

Lifeguards also posted signs Friday after a shark also described as 6 to 8 feet long was seen near the bay.
