Second man charged in Puna shooting that injured three
Hawaii County police on Wednesday charged a 36-year-old man with first-degree attempted murder for his alleged involvement in a shooting incident in Puna on Sunday that left three people injured.
Tyson Lewi was also charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a separate felony, and two counts of first-degree crimainl property damage.
He was being held in lieu of $550,000 bail. His initial court appearance is scheduled for today in South Hilo District Court.
Police said a confrontation occurred at Isaac Hale Beach Park in Pohoiki between two groups of people. Multiple gunshots were fired and three Puna men were injured — a 35-year-old Pahoa man and two from Mountain View, ages 25 and 27.
Rodney Wilbur Sr., 49, of Mountain View, was charged Tuesday with second-degree attempted murder and firearms charges. Police said he was responsible for the 35-year-old Pahoa man’s injuries.
