Fire department says Marco Polo blaze was 7-alarm fire
The Honolulu Fire Department has revised the alarm status of the fatal fire at Marco Polo condominium to a 7-alarm fire from a 5-alarm fire after further review.
Honolulu Fire Spokesman Capt. David Jenkins said today the status change was based on the number of responding assets that include over 120 firefighters and 15 fire engines.
Three people died and five others were seriously injured in the July 14 fire at the high-rise on Kapiolani Boulevard.
Approximately 200 of the 568 units were damaged.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
