Enjoy the works of Hawaii artists Warren Stenberg, Barbara Sumida and Frances Wong starting July 2 at Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe.
The three award-winning fine artists celebrate the theme of nature in “Art Suey — 2017.” Their works, a mix of oil on canvas and mixed media, capture the vivid color and light of Hawaii in local scenes, landscapes, ocean themes and the Kamehameha butterfly. Stenberg recently completed one of the Hokule‘a to commemorate its homecoming.
“Knowing our work is diverse, we said it’s like chop suey,” said Stenberg in an email. “Thus the title, ‘Art Suey — 2017.’”
The exhibition runs through July 30 at Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden Main Gallery, 45-680 Luluku Road in Kaneohe. An artists reception is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. July 8. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily; admission is free.
