A 41-year-old man has been charged in a home burglary in Kaneohe.

Frank J. Moreno appeared in District Court today after he was charged Thursday with first-degree burglary and unauthorized entry into a dwelling. Per Diem Judge Paula Devens confirmed his bail at $100,000 and set his preliminary hearing for Wednesday.

At about 9 p.m. Tuesday, police said Moreno and at least two other suspects pounded on the door of a home on Waikalualoko Loop, claiming they were police officers.

When one of two women who reside in the home opened the door, the suspects allegedly forced their way in while brandishing a loaded rifle, large knife and a bat. The suspects then allegedly punched and body-slammed the 62-year-old woman.

Dorsey Roberts, a retired Marine Corps sergeant major, said he was in his home office located in the rear of the property when he heard the woman scream and immediately responded. He confronted three males clad in hooded shirts and bandanas.

The suspects fled and Roberts called out for help to an off-duty police officer who lives nearby. The officer responded and Roberts restrained Moreno as the officer handcuffed him.

The other suspects remain at large.
