Large quake off Aleutian Islands poses no tsunami threat to Hawaii
A large earthquake off the Alaska’s Aleutian Islands did not generate a Pacific-wide tsunami today, officials said.
The magnitude 6.9 quake struck at 12:25 p.m. (Hawaii time) 113 miles west-northwest of Attu, Alaska, at a depth of about 19 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center on Oahu said there was no threat to Hawaii.
